About the role

  • Perform general front desk duties including answering phones, scheduling appointments, greeting & assisting patients/visitors
  • Maintain efficient workflow as first point of contact and alert appropriate staff to issues affecting patient flow
  • Accurately register and update patient records, verify income and program status, assign templates, and update practice management system
  • Identify patient insurance, scan documents, verify coverage, and complete benefits information including Medicaid/Medicaid Managed Care and Commercial Insurance
  • Determine and collect patient fees, record charges and payments, and account for pharmacy sales
  • Perform end-of-the-day close, reconcile cash and credit cards, and prepare bank deposits
  • Inform patients about reproductive health care, abortion services, FDA-approved birth control methods, STDs, HIV testing, safer sex, and medical center procedures
  • Provide factual, unbiased information to patients seeking an abortion and describe medication vs surgical abortion
  • Verify and document patient income and eligibility for financial assistance
  • Counsel patients on pregnancy outcome electives non-directively and provide community referral resources
  • Obtain informed consent and written signatures on patient education sheets
  • Provide room assistance for specialty procedures including colposcopy and loop electrosurgery
  • Perform lab procedures including venipuncture, urine dipstick, weight, blood pressure, anemia, and RH factor tests
  • Prep and package labs for appropriate lab companies
  • Support Advanced Practice Clinicians by prepping patients, labs, and supplies
  • Perform infection control tasks per Planned Parenthood, CLIA, and OSHA guidelines
  • Participate in pharmaceuticals compliance including removing expired products and rotating stock
  • Aid in surgical abortion procedures by examining products of conception and maintaining workflow during procedures
  • Work collaboratively with health center team to meet patient needs, productivity levels, and patient cycle times
  • Provide support services related to Telehealth per laws and regulations
  • Maintain facility cleanliness, instruments, supplies, and equipment functionality
  • Assist with inventory maintenance, stocking, and ordering supplies
  • Participate in emergency drills and follow emergency procedures
  • Ensure culture of diversity, fair and respectful treatment, and customer-focused delivery
  • Complete required training including CALs & CPR and adhere to HIPAA and patient privacy regulations
  • Maintain patient and medical center confidentiality and participate in QA/risk management processes

Requirements

  • Bilingual English/Spanish
  • Completion of an accredited high school program or equivalent is required
  • Ability to travel regionally as much as 60% and reliable means of transportation
  • Computer literacy, including competency in affiliate email, Microsoft suite, internet, and electronic health record system
  • Good interpersonal, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as policies and procedures
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends
  • Strong commitment to quality healthcare and excellent customer service
  • Ability and willingness to travel. Reliable means of transportation
  • Preferred: 1-2 years of experience with progressive responsibility in the reproductive health or general healthcare industry(ies)
  • Preferred: Active Medical Assistant or Nursing Assistant Certification
