About the role
- Review prior 24-hour production data across designated work centers; proactively address urgent business needs to minimize disruption and protect throughput.
- Lead troubleshooting efforts, including technical issue resolution, vendor engagement, and Gemba floor support.
- Track and analyze area performance metrics, including efficiency, downtime, and Pareto trends, using work center data systems.
- Monitor implemented changes to validate performance impact and ensure expected ROI is achieved.
- Lead and coordinate continuous improvement initiatives aligned to Zero Loss Mentality and the Perrigo Work System.
- Drive waste reduction and operational capability improvements through structured process optimization.
- Partner cross-functionally to prioritize and execute high-impact improvement projects.
- Utilize the DMAIC methodology to identify root causes and implement sustainable corrective actions.
- Serve as technical expert for equipment and associated technologies.
- Provide training and technical guidance for Operations and cross-functional support teams in collaboration with the Technical Services team.
- Apply core engineering principles to solve complex technical challenges using innovative and practical approaches.
- Ensure operations remain compliant with all applicable regulations, including Safety, cGMP, Site Quality requirements, and Environmental sustainability efforts.
- Provide engineering support for capital improvement and direct replacement projects.
- Develop comprehensive project scopes including cost estimates, economic justifications, and capital appropriation documentation for leadership approval.
- Lead equipment installation and process improvement efforts supporting production operations.
- Support validation activities, including IQ, OQ, PQ, and successful vertical startup.
- Serve as project manager, providing direction to cross-functional teams while coordinating with consultants, contractors, and multiple departments.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering required; Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or Engineering Management preferred.
- Demonstrated experience supporting automated spray dryer operations, including cyclones, baghouses, fluid beds, inlet, and outlet air controls.
- Strong foundation in engineering principles, theories, and applied equipment operations.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, flowcharts, and system design documentation.
- Proven experience applying Lean principles and Six Sigma methodologies to drive measurable improvement.
- Ability to perform cost analyses and exercise prudent financial judgment.
- Demonstrated initiative in identifying and leading projects aligned to broad operational goals.
- PLC controls and automation troubleshooting experience preferred.
- Experience working in FDA-regulated, current GMP environments preferred.
- Hands-on knowledge of production operations and associated control systems preferred.
- Proven project management experience in the installation and upgrade of production equipment.
- Proficiency with CAD software
- Experience reading and interpreting P&ID
