About the role
- PermitFlow is building AI agents for the $1.6T construction industry, starting with the $12B permitting market.
- Platform automates the permitting process from jurisdiction research to application preparation, submission, and tracking.
- Raised $36.5M+ with investors including Kleiner Perkins, Initialized Capital, and Y Combinator.
- HQ in New York City with hybrid schedule (3 in-office days per week); preference for NYC-based candidates or relocation.
- Lead and manage engineers; conduct 1:1s, feedback, and career development.
- Set technical direction, anticipate scaling challenges, define priorities, track KPIs, and manage technical debt.
- Collaborate with product, design, and cross-functional teams to define requirements and ensure timely delivery.
- Ensure best practices in architecture, system design, code quality, scalability, reliability, and security.
- Work with stakeholders to prioritize feature development and enhance customer experience.
- Lead hiring and provide mentorship, including to junior managers.
Requirements
- 5+ years in software engineering, with 3+ years in leadership roles.
- Strong alignment with PermitFlow’s culture; comfortable in a fast-paced startup environment with ambiguity.
- Proven experience managing and scaling teams in a startup.
- Strong communication skills for working with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience with agile methodologies and continuous improvement.
- Bonus: Experience in high-growth startups or SaaS.
- Bonus: Familiarity with construction or permitting industries.
- Bonus: Knowledge of testing and performance optimization for web applications.
