About the role
- Establish and manage L/Cs or Bank Contracts in consultation with Manager Import / GM Commercial
- Coordinate with suppliers/indenters for Indents, Proforma Invoices, Quotations, and price negotiations
- Liaise with banks for L/Cs, Bank Contracts, shipping documents, and retirement advice
- Communicate with suppliers, bankers, freight forwarders, clearing agents, insurance companies, and customs authorities (including attending hearings if required)
- Arrange clearance of consignments through clearing agents, including processing duty requests and arranging pay orders
- File and follow up on insurance complaints/claims with insurance companies to facilitate settlements
- Collaborate with freight forwarders to optimise marine freight operations and identify cost-saving opportunities
- Develop alternate sourcing options and arrange samples for new projects
- Calculate landed costs of imported items and maintain the Import Master Chart
- Maintain records of security deposits, shipment files, and document retirement from banks
- Process clearing agents and transporters' bills, and create shipment batches in the system for inbound tracking
- Issue dispatch intimations to the factory post-clearance
- Place orders with suppliers as per system-generated PRs and prepare Import Purchase Orders through SAP
Requirements
- Bachelor's / Master's degree in Supply Chain
- Minimum 6 months to 1 year of experience
- Experience in establishing and managing L/Cs or Bank Contracts
- Coordination with suppliers/indenters for Indents, Proforma Invoices, Quotations, and price negotiations
- Liaison with banks for L/Cs, Bank Contracts, shipping documents, and retirement advice
- Communication with suppliers, bankers, freight forwarders, clearing agents, insurance companies, and customs authorities
- Experience arranging clearance of consignments through clearing agents and processing duty requests
- Experience filing and following up on insurance complaints/claims
- Familiarity with marine freight optimisation and cost-saving identification
- Ability to develop alternate sourcing options and arrange samples
- Ability to calculate landed costs and maintain Import Master Chart
- Maintain records of security deposits, shipment files, and document retirement from banks
- Experience processing clearing agents and transporters' bills and creating shipment batches in system
- Experience issuing dispatch intimations post-clearance
