About the role

  • Create, implement, and maintain system design elements, tools, and workflows for the level design team.
  • Set up gameplay scenarios using existing tools to create gameplay elements such as checkpoints, objectives, enemy spawns, and special events.
  • Work directly with programmers, game designers, artists, and animators to create essential tools and solutions.
  • Assist in prototyping and in producing the technical components of game features.
  • Test new features and tools before they are rolled out to the rest of the team.
  • Ensure level designers adhere to official metrics and technical standards.
  • Review plans produced by team members, analyzing them to identify additional required effort or reduce the risk of bugs.
  • Create prefabricated templates that are easy for team members to use, configure, or adjust.
  • Act as a technical reference for the team on level design.
  • Assist the broader department in debugging and fixing issues.
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation for the projects you are responsible for.
  • Participate in the work of dedicated response teams.

Requirements

  • Typically 3+ years of experience, including experience on at least one AAA title successfully shipped on PC or console.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills.
  • Good presentation skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Solid understanding of game creation and development processes.
  • Experience with both text-based and visual scripting systems.
  • Proficiency with Atlassian tools (JIRA, Confluence).
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Desirable qualifications: Experience with multiple different 3D engines.
  • Experience designing tools and workflows.
  • Interdisciplinary experience; generalist approach.
  • Scripting experience with Python and Lua.
  • Knowledge of Maya, 3DS Max, or a similar 3D package (strongly preferred).
