About the role
- Design, implement, and manage the game's narrative structure, ensuring that story, missions, dialogue, and narrative systems are fully integrated with gameplay and production processes while maintaining a high level of narrative quality and player experience.
- Manage narrative structure, systems, and content from design through implementation and iteration.
- Design and implement dialogue, voice-over, and interactive narrative elements using engine-integrated tools.
- Work within and maintain established production processes and software while meeting deadlines and key milestones.
- Collaborate closely with writers, level designers, production, cinematics, audio, environment artists, and art teams to seamlessly integrate narrative into gameplay.
- Work with writers and level designers to deliver a coherent, engaging, and interactive narrative experience.
- Develop additional narrative content that supports game systems and aligns with the overall vision of the project.
- Create, maintain, and evolve documentation related to narrative systems, tools, and content.
- Own specific narrative features or systems and carry them through to completion with minimal supervision.
- Share knowledge, best practices, and mentorship with less experienced narrative designers.
- Support onboarding of new narrative team members as needed.
Requirements
- Typically more than 5 years of professional experience as a narrative designer, quest/mission designer, or level designer, with a strong focus on narrative.
- At least one AAA title released.
- Significant experience with narrative pipelines, including voice-over, cinematics, and audio.
- Excellent understanding of video game development processes, workflows, and interdisciplinary dependencies.
- Deep understanding of narrative structure, narrative tools, and their application in interactive media.
- Proficiency in implementing narrative setups and scripting using Unreal Engine Blueprints or similar systems.
- Excellent proofreading and editing skills.
- Highly organized, self-motivated, and able to work independently on long-form narrative projects.
- High degree of creativity paired with strong execution skills.
- Proven ability to translate high-level concepts and vision into concrete narrative content.
- Comfortable receiving and responding constructively to feedback.
- Strong mentoring instinct and collaborative mindset.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Strong knowledge of role-playing games and narrative systems.
