About the role
- Delivery of the IFRS17 month-end reporting including the RiskIntegrity process runs
- Other accounting tasks (transactions, journals, reconciliations, data entry, supporting information, explanations and all other information that may be required in the general ledger and financial records of the Group including P&L, Balance Sheet, cash flows and liaising with Actuaries on the reporting of technical provisions, solvency calculations) to support effective month end close accounting process
- Responsible for the creation and preparation of standardized templates for integration activities, including updating of the IFRS, Solvency and EBS/BMA trial balances, Insurance and Investment related financial statement disclosures and offline templates for new Group reporting
- Provide Analysis and insight into the current and new Group results and use the knowledge to help improve understanding across PIC
- Liaising and keeping up to date with business changes and transactions with other teams within PIC, such as new business, reinsurance, claims management and the like
- Identifying and developing process improvements
- Identifying and developing controls and control environment improvements
- Accounting tasks to support the effective month end closing accounting process across BAU and Group, including consolidation
- Leading any ad hoc change requests or new requests from the accounting operational perspective, for example new business transactions that will have an impact on GL and other processes
- Support the wider accounting team and finance team with finance change projects/program
- Preparing analytical review commentary on significant variances and/or developments on a monthly basis
- To understand and work within Pension Corporation's guidelines on Treating Customers Fairly
Requirements
- Strong knowledge of accounting processes and controls
- Proficient knowledge of accounting ledger systems e.g. Oracle
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office package – especially Excel
- Fundamental knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
- Good knowledge of PRA reporting requirements
- Fully Qualified accountant
- Strong accounting skills
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to analyse large volumes of data
- Ability to organize work to meet tight deadlines
- Ability to work within defined procedures
- Adaptable, with the ability to switch effectively between multiple tasks and priorities
- Ability to create and deliver clear and concise written commentary of analytical reviews
- Proven post-qualification accounting experience
- Experience in entity and group accounting within financial services (preferred), ideally within insurance industry or similar within a big 4 accounting environment
- Experience in taking on existing processes and improve/simplify
- Experience or exposure to IFRS17 tools (preferred) e.g. RiskIntegrity
