About the role

  • You will work within the Legal, Compliance & Risk department and alongside the Compliance team and the DPO on matters related to Pennylane’s GDPR compliance.
  • The Legal Department supports and advises all teams (tech, product, data, sales, marketing, HR, etc.) on legal issues, compliance management and risk.
  • Your role will be to find answers to challenges that raise new or novel questions.
  • You will actively contribute to implementation of projects and strategy related to data protection.
  • You will build and maintain the global foundation of data protection policies and documentation.
  • You will participate in developing awareness and training activities on data protection.
  • You will anticipate and master French and German data protection regulations.
  • You will support and collaborate closely with other members of the legal team on data protection matters.
  • You will carry out data protection compliance activities (for example: record of processing activities, training, data protection impact assessments, certifications, etc.).

Requirements

  • You are a lawyer or legal counsel with solid experience in personal data protection (at least 4 years) in a high-growth company in a relevant sector, preferably fintech, with a strong product/tech orientation.
  • Excellent command of personal data regulation is essential.
  • Deep technical knowledge of IT tools and security measures in a SaaS environment.
  • You are pragmatic and enjoy solving problems efficiently to implement appropriate solutions while continuously seeking simplification.
  • You are creative and resourceful, have a strong business instinct, and work with rigor.
  • You can work on multiple projects simultaneously while keeping track of the details of each.
  • You enjoy working in a team and collaborating with other teams, including tech and product teams, and have excellent interpersonal skills.
  • You have excellent communication and drafting skills in French and English.
  • You enjoy challenges, finding innovative legal solutions to new problems and taking calculated risks to define new practices that align with Pennylane’s objectives (even if it means redefining market standards when necessary).
  • You understand business stakes and can distinguish what creates value versus purely theoretical legal debates.
