About the role
- design and administer the commercial property/casualty insurance and self-insurance programs of the University and Penn State Health
- assists the Penn State Health and University Risk Managers in risk identification, evaluation, and mitigation efforts
- identify specific exposures and insurance coverage needs, underwriting requirements, and program design
- present risk management and insurance coverage interpretation and advise leadership as required
- lead risk and insurance efforts during potential acquisitions
- advocate for favorable insurance requirements in contract reviews
- ensure the insurance program coverages are aligned with contractual requirements
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree
- 6+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strategic thinker; creative problem solver
- Effective communicator with various Penn State Health and University constituents
- Team player and collaborator; humble
- Emotional intelligence

- Thorough working knowledge and experience with insurance policy forms, coverage and underwriting practices
- Working knowledge of computer systems and software, including Microsoft Office
- Prior commercial insurance or risk management experience is required.
- Insurance designation(s) such as CPCU, ARM, AU, etc. are preferred.
