About the role
- Perform complex workers’ compensation and general liability audits by examining financial records and business operations.
- Document audit findings, calculate risk exposures, and ensure audits comply with rating bureau rules and state law.
- Engage with policyholders to review payroll registers, ledgers, wage reports, financial statements and other relevant documents.
- Analyze business operations to determine appropriate risk classifications.
- Maintain a record of all communications in the electronic audit inventory system.
- Proactively engage with policyholders and agents to explain rules and regulations impacting premium basis.
- Respond promptly to inquiries from agents, insureds, and internal customers regarding audit compliance and procedures.
- Stay informed of changes via WCIRB, NCCI, and other industry resources.
- Utilize laptop and peripheral technology to organize, schedule and complete audits.
- Other responsibilities as assigned by management.
Requirements
- Requires a bachelor’s degree in accounting, business management, risk management or an equivalent of education and experience.
- Minimum of five years’ experience as a premium auditor with carrier or vendor experience.
- Proficient in MS Word and Excel.
- Strong knowledge of WCIRB, NCCI and Independent Bureau resources such as Basic and Scopes manuals.
- General Liability and Auto Dealers premium audit experience preferred.
- Strong customer service orientation.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Must have strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Insurance designations such as APA a plus.
