About the role
- Oversee and direct construction projects from conception to completion, to include the hospital design, construction, and renovation activities across the PAM Health system, as assigned by the SVP of Construction
- Assist the SVP of Construction with the RFP selection of design teams and construction teams, establishing project scope, budget and schedule for all capital projects
- Oversee all onsite and offsite construction for assigned projects to monitor compliance with building and safety regulations
- Maintains acute awareness of market and industry trends
- Implements innovative solutions for practice or workflow changes to improve system operations
- Assist with the department budget process
- Reviews operating expenses and manages within budget limitations, assuring conformance to budgetary requirements
- Monitors and ensures construction compliance with federal, state and local safety and environmental regulations and standards as well as accreditation requirements
- Management of consultants (architects, engineers, etc.), including identifying and correcting issues to ensure project meets completion schedule and expectations of end user efficiently, on time, & on budget
- Establishes and maintains relationship and communication channels with developers, general contractors, architects, and engineers
- Regularly monitor and report on status of construction and renovation projects to the SVP of Construction
- Plan ahead to prevent problems; communicate and resolve emerging issues
- Ensure quality construction standards and the use of proper construction techniques
- Serve as project manager or lead construction projects as needed to support workload, complexity, or timing of capital initiatives
- Provide guidance and technical leadership to construction projects managers as needed
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management preferred
- 10+ years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience in Hospital construction required
- Knowledge of Codes and Ordinances Relevant and Planning, Design, Construction and Maintenance
- SME level with The Joint Commission, NFPA, & OSHA regulations
- Thorough knowledge of the use & maintenance of Plant Operations equipment
- Ability to read and interpret documents, such as safety rules, policies & procedures, operating instructions, & blue prints
- Strategic vision with the ability to execute
- Impeccable judgment and ability to make sound decisions in a fast-paced, dynamic setting
- Executive-level presentation skills and ability to handle high-level client interactions
- Strong team-building skills and ability to motivate others; team-player mindset and willingness to collaborate
- Extensive knowledge of regulatory and accreditation agency requirements that impact department; stays abreast of industry changes
- Professional handling of exposure to confidential/sensitive information
