About the role

  • The Accountant will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial reporting and accounting activities for Montevideo, Uruguay.
  • Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing in accordance with local GAAP (NCIF).
  • Maintain statutory accounting books and electronic ledgers required by National Customs and Super Sociedades.
  • Ensure accurate reconciliation of: Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Payroll & social security accruals.
  • Guarantee full compliance with national and municipal tax requirements: Income Tax, IVA – Filing, etc.
  • Lead annual external audit and statutory review processes.
  • Coordinate internal audit visits and follow up on audit findings.
  • Oversee daily bank reconciliations and ensure alignment with balances.
  • Supervise payroll accounting and compliance on payroll, withholding, and social security.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
  • 5–10 years of experience in accounting, tax, controlling, and external audit in shipping and logistics.
  • Strong knowledge of: NCIF / COL-GAAP (Decreto 2420 and updates), tax regulations (IVA, Renta, etc), Payroll and social security (Electronic invoicing (Factura Electrónica) and National Customs procedures.
  • Bilingual: Spanish native / English Advanced.
  • ERP knowledge: Oracle, SAP, or similar (Oracle preferred).
  • Advanced Excel (financial analysis, reconciliations, data validation).
