About the role
- Responsible for construction and improvement projects in the electric transmission system
- Identifies contract worthy projects, consults on project feasibility and details, coordinates with construction crews
- Oversees project inspectors, performs construction oversight based on project needs
- Prepares job packages and construction estimates, conducts job walks, meets with bidders and governing agencies
- Ensures projects are completed per company standards, engineering design, regulatory guidelines, permits and schedule
- Compiles and interprets internal drawings and relevant data for RFP and contract processes
- Consults and clarifies technical details for contractors during construction
- Attends job scope walk downs, leads job scope discussions
- Addresses all communication and project documentation with contractors, conducts meetings at job site
- Monitors daily construction activities to meet safety, quality, cost and schedule goals
- Acts as point of contact for construction contractors to ensure resources are adequate for delivery
- Acts as Incident Commander and PG&E Representative in the field
- Ensures contractors follow safety plans, project environmental/land permits and safety rules
- Oversees the inspection of the construction work and coordinates the work of field inspectors
- Works with Project Managers to establish planning/schedule dates for construction
- Provides mentoring and training to Associate, Career and Senior level employees
Requirements
- 7 years of experience in the field of Industrial engineering or Construction
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
- Experience in utility construction
- 9 years working experience in the field of Industrial Engineering or Construction (Desired)
- Working Knowledge Primavera P6, Unifier, Primavera Contracts Manager, Prolog or similar (Desired)
- Advanced Knowledge of California and Federal regulatory requirements such as Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) (Desired)
- Knowledge of the company’s emergency management processes (Desired)
- Ability to lead trainings and coach less experienced employees (Desired)
- Long term planning and scheduling skills (Desired)
