About the role
- Act as litigation counsel in disciplinary, criminal and civil law
- Manage disciplinary and criminal cases through hearings and final court decisions
- Draft appeal briefs
- Provide legal opinions on disciplinary, criminal and other matters
- Exclusively represent the Organization before disciplinary, administrative and judicial bodies
- Participate in various committees or working groups of the Organization
- Provide training to managers and human resources and legal teams
Requirements
- Law degree (LL.B., J.D. or equivalent)
- Member in good standing of the Barreau du Québec (Quebec Bar)
- Knowledge of disciplinary law and experience as litigation counsel in this area (asset)
- Knowledge of criminal and administrative law and experience as litigation counsel in these areas (asset)
- Knowledge of the Real Estate Brokerage Act and its regulations (asset)
- Knowledge of access to information and privacy laws (asset)
- Excellent command of French, both spoken and written
- Good command of English, both spoken and written
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 and ability to work with various software applications
- 5+ years' experience as litigation counsel before the courts
