Provide clinical management of patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings, including comprehensive care from admission to discharge.
Provide day to day management and supervision of APP personnel, onboarding, scheduling, and personnel issue resolution; escalate to leadership as appropriate.
Provide 7-day/week inpatient coverage and ambulatory clinic coverage; rounding with faculty and developing/implementing patient care plans and protocols.
Perform neurosurgical procedures according to protocol and competency training; respond to urgent clinical situations including situational resuscitation and emergency treatment.
Coordinate with interdisciplinary teams and external providers to ensure streamlined patient-centered care and triage patient calls/messages (MyChart).
Contribute to patient and family education and development/presentation of educational materials.
Participate in program development, quality improvement initiatives, teaching of medical students/house staff/nurses, and accreditation/compliance efforts.
Assist with recruitment by reviewing CVs, initial candidate assessment, and hiring strategy input; assist in annual reviews and continuing education standards for APPs.
Represent APPs on department and institutional work groups and committees and work on value stream efforts for high quality, cost-efficient patient management.
Requirements
For Physician Associate (PA) Candidates: Current Oregon licensure through the Oregon Medical Board.
Current active Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration and prescriptive authority.
Current National Commission on Certification of Physician Associates (NCCPA) certification.
For Nurse Practitioner (NP) Candidates: Current Oregon licensure through the Oregon State Board of Nursing.
Authorized practice within Division 50 of the Oregon Nurse Practice Act (ORS Chapter 678).
Current active Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration and prescriptive authority.
Acute Care NP certification may be required.

Demonstrate clinical experience with the ability to perform comprehensive history and physical examinations.
