About the role

  • Supervise a talented group of employees, oversee work schedules, assignments, procedures, training, and contribute to hiring decisions and performance monitoring.
  • Conduct quarterly development meetings, interpret laws and regulations, tackle complex policy issues, and help shape improvements that support Oregonians statewide.
  • Build strong relationships across agencies, engage with the public and professionals, and foster a positive, inclusive, and high-performance work environment.
  • Lead daily operations for the Estate Administration Unit (EAU) and Personal Injury Liens Unit (PIL), including assigning work, scheduling, setting procedures, and resolving staff concerns.
  • Partner with the Compliance and Regulatory Manager 1 and HR to address personnel issues.
  • Monitor employee performance through quality and production reviews; identify training needs and provide coaching.
  • Maintain and analyze unit data to ensure dashboard accuracy and support goal achievement.
  • Update position descriptions and assist with quarterly performance reviews and development meetings.
  • Represent ODHS’ estate recovery program to field offices, partner agencies, DOJ, legislators, external organizations, and the public—including speaking at trainings, panels, and seminars.
  • Support development and implementation of the unit’s strategic business plan and service equity goals.

Requirements

  • Four Years of lead work, supervision, or progressively related experience; OR one year of related experience and a bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • A valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record are required for this position.
  • Demonstrated leadership effectiveness with the ability to manage and support employees with diverse backgrounds and classifications.
  • Strong communication and relationship building skills with a focus on collaborating, coaching and the development of employees.
  • Experience in developing short and long-term goals, policies, and protocols in a collaborative environment.
  • Experience leading and supervising direct report employees within the last five years.
  • Experience evaluating processes and procedures to ensure effectiveness, accountability, and continuous improvement.
