About the role
- Support the Resident Engineer by overseeing project teams.
- Ensure contractors meet all highway construction contract requirements.
- Provide day-to-day leadership, guidance, and mentorship to a crew of 15–20 employees.
- Contribute to preliminary engineering work and other assigned project tasks.
- Proactively anticipate, identify, and resolve project construction issues.
- Review plans and specifications and recommend changes as needed.
- Initiate, prepare, and justify contract change orders, including cost estimates.
- Review and analyze contractor claims and time extension requests.
- Provide oversight to ensure contractor and subcontractor compliance with contract requirements.
- Assist in supervising field construction contracts, including highways, bridges, interchanges, traffic signals, bikeways, and buildings.
Requirements
- Possession of a Civil Engineering (CE) license in the State of Oregon OR the ability to obtain license within six months of hire.
- If registered in another state, successful applicants will be required to obtain a temporary permit to practice engineering, pursuant to ORS 672.109, within six months from date of hire.
- Driving is an essential function of this position. You must have a valid US driver license and an acceptable driving record.
