About the role
- Distribute reliable information on workforce trends and characteristics for Oregon customers
- Provide customized, objective workforce information to businesses, employers, and education-related organizations
- Bridge the information gap between businesses and education; communicate employer and education community needs to the workforce system
- Deliver workforce information via one-on-one meetings, online and in-person presentations, writing articles, and providing reports
- Connect employers to Employment Department resources (QualityInfo.org and WorkingInOregon.org)
- Communicate frequently with other economists and analysts regarding local activities and contacts
- Develop expertise on how labor market information resources can support graduation requirements
- Strengthen local business workforce strategies through customized research, reporting, and consultations
- Participate in economic development efforts by writing labor market availability reports for employers locating or expanding
- Assigned to specific geographic coverage areas with central workplaces in multiple Oregon cities (Corvallis, Salem, Bend, etc.)
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in economics or a related field (official or unofficial transcripts required after interview)
- Preference: Bachelor's degree in economics OR any Bachelor's with at least 3 Economics courses with grade of 'B' or higher
- Broad understanding of economic concepts, especially those related to the labor market
- Solid understanding of statistics
- Demonstrated collaborative skills; ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with customers, co-workers, and partners
- Ability to present information that instills confidence and explain complex concepts to lay audiences
- Effective written communication skills
- Commitment to valuing diversity and promoting inclusion
- Must reside within the assigned coverage area within ~3 months and be ready to work in an office environment frequently
- Ability to report to listed office locations or meet with customers/co-workers in-person on short notice
- Demonstrate access to broadband internet meeting minimum requirements and have a private workspace
- Authorized to work in the United States; no visa sponsorship
- Subject to criminal background check and possibly fingerprint-based background check
