Data Scientist

• Perform in-depth data analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement related to Oportun's financial products.
• Stay updated on industry trends and customer needs, providing insights and recommendations for product enhancements.
• Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and designers to contribute to the development and improvement of financial products.
• Plan, execute, and analyze A/B tests to evaluate the performance of product changes and optimize features.

Controller

• Oversee and direct the global accounting, reporting, and consolidation processes to ensure timely, accurate, and compliant financial results.
• Serve as a strategic partner to the Corporate Controller, CFO, and business unit leaders to drive financial discipline and operational efficiency.
• Lead all aspects of the monthly, quarterly, and annual close and reporting cycles across multiple entities.
• Own and continuously enhance key global accounting processes, ensuring efficiency, accuracy, and adherence to SOX and US GAAP requirements.
• Oversee the preparation of consolidated financial statements and coordinate with the external reporting, FP&A, and tax teams to ensure data integrity and consistency.

Senior Director, Finance – Assistant Corporate Controller

Financial Planning and Analysis

• Manage and direct all aspects of the company’s annual and long-range financial planning and budgeting process and drive improvements in efficiency, accuracy, timeliness, and transparency.
• Develop and implement policies, processes, and systems to build the infrastructure necessary to support a high-growth organization
• Develop and lead a department-level planning process which aligns and prioritizes resources with strategic objectives.
• Develop and manage a guidance model to accurately provide guidance as part of the public company quarterly earnings process. Lead the monthly P&L review process that includes explaining variances to plan, providing insight on current and expected trends, tracking progress against key business initiatives, and identifying areas of risk and opportunities.
• Direct the preparation of reforecasts each month that project performance of the business over the next three years.

• Help manage/optimize credit strategy and value for Oportun’s Installment loan product
• Develop and manage the customer life-time valuation (CLTV) framework for Oportun’s Personal Loan products, including Unsecured Personal Loan (UPL) and Secured Personal Loan (SPL)
• Develop forecasting frameworks to estimate revenue and cost metrics such as credit loss, interest revenue, losses, prepay behavior, propensity to return for another loan after paying off existing loan
• Work with various business teams to integrate valuation frameworks into the decisioning processes to enable differential product offering to customers
