About the role
- Be responsible for the category/sourcing Procurement processes related to the Capital Construction & Project Management (CCPM) and Capital Equipment (CE) categories to support capital projects across US sites.
- Manage spend with medium to high complexity and requires a high degree of collaboration with stakeholders internally and externally.
- Ensure best value by optimizing cost savings, capabilities, cash flow, and schedule requirements.
- Evaluate new suppliers based on total cost of ownership (TCO), risk factors, and long-term benefits.
- Be responsible for leading and implementing strategies and initiatives aligned with Capital Construction & Facility Services (CCFS) strategy.
- Collaborate closely with key J&J stakeholders across Engineering & Property Services (E&PS), Supply Chain, R&D, Finance, and Procurement.
- Handle the relationships and Procurement activities across multiple preferred suppliers to ensure the success of short and long-term projects measured on financial performance, quality, service, and compliance.
- Contribute to the development and alignment of sourcing strategies and lead/oversee execution of category strategies to include sourcing, negotiations, contract implementation/adherence, and performance against established targets to ensure success.
- Identify business demand/planning requirements and partner with leaders in Supply Chain, E&PS, and Procurement to deliver annual value improvements to drive competitive advantage.
- Interface directly with key levels of suppliers’ leadership to assure alignment of J&J’s objectives are met, including quality, reliability, innovation and cost.
- Lead supplier relationship management with key suppliers. This includes data review and analysis, performance management, development, and improvement of end to end value, and bring innovation to the business.
- Promptly, predictively, and judiciously escalate and lead issues that may impact the Procurement organization and/or our team members.
- Explore and implement solutions in a collaborative and Credo-based manner.
- Connect across other CCFS categories (e.g. MRO, Facility Maintenance, Energy) and network across other Indirect Procurement categories (e.g. IT, R&D, HR Services, Transportation) to ensure outstanding support to projects as needed
- Represent Procurement in key meetings and ensure accurate and timely communication of data, insights, and other relevant information.
- Support transition/handover from construction to business operational readiness.
Requirements
- A minimum of a BA/BS degree is required with a preference for majors in Supply Chain, Engineering, Operations, Science, Finance or similar.
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in procurement of capital equipment and capital construction services
- Experience working for or overseeing procurement activities at large Architecture/Engineering, Construction Management, or General Contractor firms.
- Led or supported sourcing, negotiating, contracting and transacting business with trade contractors (e.g. construction, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, civil, utilities etc.) on large capital construction projects.
- Demonstrated experience with Procurement’s policies, operations, processes, operating model, and value proposition.
- Broad-based understanding of business operations and practices and core Procurement areas of focus (i.e. Spend Management, Category Management and Supplier Management).
- Experience on RFx/Sourcing activities for bid packages associated with large construction projects, including preparation of bidding documents and ensuring bidders’ engagement and participation.
- Successful use of sourcing technology platform(s) including bid analysis, interpretation, and recommendation.
- Financial acumen and strong track record of complying with financial requirements
- Strong leadership, communication, influencing, trust-building, and collaboration skills
- Able to prioritize requests and develop/propose effective solutions/alternatives in collaboration with others
- Demonstrated commitment to J&J’s Credo-based decision-making, complying with policies, and acting with a sense of urgency. Maintains confidentiality as necessary.
- Demonstrated willingness to assess and adapt to changes in the external environment.

- Vacation –120 hours per calendar year
