About the role
- Report into the Data & Insights Manager and work as one of the first hires in the Data & Insights team
- Design, build, and maintain efficient ETL pipelines to ingest, clean, and transform data from multiple sources
- Develop robust, scalable data models to enable self-serve analytics and deeper insights
- Automate data ingestion processes and optimise query performance for analytical tools and dashboards
- Own the integration and transformation of Shopify and related commerce data
- Work with stakeholders across departments (marketing, operations, finance, product) to understand data requirements
- Collaborate with the Analytics Manager to support dashboarding and reporting
- Maintain data quality, documentation, and monitoring best practices
- Build a modern, high-performance data environment on Microsoft Azure
Requirements
- Proven experience as a BI Developer or Data Engineer, ideally in a scale-up or fast-paced e-commerce environment
- Strong SQL skills
- Experience working in Microsoft Azure (Data Factory, Azure SQL, Synapse, etc.)
- Experience working with Shopify data and integrating e-commerce pipelines
- Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts, data modelling, and transformation best practices
- Comfortable working with APIs, flat files, and third-party tools for ingestion
- A proactive, problem-solving mindset and eagerness to build from the ground up
- Strong collaboration and communication skills
- Freelance availability to work 7.5 hours per day, 5 days per week
- Nice to have: experience with dbt or similar transformation tools
- Nice to have: exposure to Power BI, Looker, or other BI tools
- Nice to have: familiarity with version control and deployment workflows (e.g., Git, CI/CD)
