About the role
- Take responsibility for the strategic, organizational and qualitative management of our editorial work
- Lead and develop the editorial team — including coaching, feedback and performance development
- Plan, manage and optimize editorial work and production processes
- Ensure a consistent, high-quality editorial output
- Strategically further develop the content and product strategy in close coordination with Production Management
- Develop and implement editorial guidelines, quality standards and workflows
- Analyze editorial metrics, evaluate user and participant feedback, and derive concrete optimization measures
- Responsible for tool and resource management and for building efficient workflows
- Communicate and coordinate with other departments to ensure consistent content and processes
- Independently initiate and lead projects within the editorial area
- Continuously monitor market and trend developments, particularly in digital education and AI
- Take on special tasks and strategic projects on behalf of the Head of Production
Requirements
- Degree in journalism, communication studies, German studies or a comparable discipline
- At least 5 years' experience in an editorial leadership role with both line and subject-matter responsibility
- Proven track record in strategic planning, organization and management of teams and processes
- Very good knowledge of Google Sheets or Microsoft Excel for planning, reporting and controlling
- Confident use of digital tools and new technologies, especially AI-based applications to increase efficiency and improve quality
- Solid understanding of editorial quality, didactics and learning content, and an excellent command of language
- Analytical, structured and solution-oriented thinking, with the ability to clearly structure complex issues
- Strong communication skills, empathy and a constructive feedback approach when leading people
- High level of responsibility, resilience and the ability to set priorities — even under time pressure
