• Operate in the highest-ambiguity spaces: problems that aren't yet well-formed enough to assign to a squad, where your job is to bring clarity and make them tractable.
• Drive architectural decisions that outlast any single squad rotation, balancing long-term system health with the pragmatic pace of a high-velocity org.

• Design, build, and maintain systems across the stack, from frontend interfaces and APIs to backend services, databases, and infrastructure.
• Rotate across squads as priorities shift, bringing your expertise to wherever it creates the most leverage, and ramping quickly in unfamiliar domains.

Compliance

• Own RMF authorizations across Department of War components and FedRAMP High, alongside CMMC 2.0 and SOC 2 compliance for corporate systems
• Maintain authorization and audit evidence, including SSPs, SARs, POA&Ms, STIGs, and control mappings
• Partner with Engineering, Product, and Security to embed compliance requirements into system design and CI/CD workflows, not bolt them on afterward

DevOps Engineer

• You'll own the reliability, scalability, and security of the production application and/or platform. You will do this by:
• - Implementing a World-Class Observability Platform: Design, implement, and manage our monitoring, logging, and alerting stack (e.g., Prometheus, Loki, Alloy, and Grafana). You won't just track metrics; you'll create the actionable insights and automated alerting that allow teams to identify and resolve issues before they impact users.
• - Defining and Upholding Reliability: Define, measure, and own alerting that feeds into our Service Level Indicators (SLIs) and Service Level Objectives (SLOs), increasing trust internally and externally. You will be the organization's expert on what it means for our systems to be reliable and how to measure it.
• - Leading Incident Response: Act as the incident responder and potentially incident commander during critical incidents who will lead blameless post-mortems / After Action Reviews (AARs) that identify true root causes and drive automated, long-term solutions to prevent recurrence.
• - Automating for Scale and Security: Partner with platform engineers to design, build, and manage secure, resilient Kubernetes clusters and cloud/on-prem environments using Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, Ansible). You will embed security and compliance controls (RMF, STIGs) directly into this automation.
• - Eliminating Toil and Scaling the Team: Proactively identify and eliminate operational toil by building automation. You will partner with other teams to share best practices for air-gapped environments and support their readiness for production.

• Own onboarding and offboarding operations: Coordinate employee onboarding and offboarding activities, including account provisioning, access management, hardware deployment, recovery, and documentation updates.
• Manage the hardware lifecycle: Track, maintain, deploy, recover, and replace company hardware while ensuring asset records remain accurate and up to date.
• Tier 1 IT support: Serve as the first point of contact for IT support requests, troubleshooting user issues across devices, applications, accounts, and collaboration tools. Escalate complex issues to senior IT staff when appropriate.

• Drive standards and frameworks for Infrastructure as Code, service onboarding, environment management, GitOps workflows, and overall platform releases.
• Ensure observability, reliability, scalability, and cost-effectiveness of the platform; continuously monitor and improve service health, developer feedback, and performance metrics.
