About the role
- Determines accurate CPT, HCPCS and ICD-10-CM codes for billing services
- Performs activities related to coding and practice management
- Provides training on coding and compliance issues
- Interacts with patient care providers regarding billing policies
- Performs audits and analyses of payer denials
- Researches inquiries from providers and patients about fees
- Monitors data sources and updates encounter forms
- Attends to professionalism, detail, and co-worker cooperation
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED
- Certification in CPC, CCS, CCS-P, RHIT; or specialty coding with one to three years’ experience directly related to coding and reimbursement
- Knowledge of CPT, HCPCS procedure and professional supply codes
- Knowledge of ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes
- Knowledge of third party fee profiles and reimbursement requirements
- Knowledge of current and developing coding procedures and requirements
- Analytical ability to gather and interpret data
- Ability to interact and communicate at all levels of the organization
- Preferences: Experience working with Electronic Medical Records and IDX.
