About the role
- Assumes responsibility for the collection, organization, analysis, and dissemination of information on medication utilization
- Integrate activities with clinical, safety, procurement, prescribing, administration, and distribution systems to optimize medication use
- Involved in formulary management, medication policy compliance, and Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee initiatives
- Maintains the formulary
- Evaluates pharmacoeconomic impact of pharmacy policy
- Assures continual regulatory compliance
- Educates staff, students, patients, providers and other health care professionals
- Participates in professional development and continuing education
- Coordinates drug shortage management strategies
- Support change management related to formulary changes including communication plans, education and support
- Adapts behavior to specific patient population.
Requirements
- School/College of Pharmacy degree
- PGY2 Residency in Drug Information or Informatics preferred
- 1 year experience in Drug Information, Informatics or similar field
- License to Practice Pharmacy in the state of practice must be obtained within 30 days of hire
- Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of patient information
- Must be proficient with Windows-style applications and keyboard.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Strong leadership/teaching skills.
