About the role
- Manage workflows in alignment with departmental goals and objectives.
- Execution of individual and team goals and objectives in alignment organizational strategic initiatives.
- Ensure work is allocated to teams based upon account needs, staff experience, and expertise.
- Prepare and deliver ongoing performance coaching and performance reviews for direct reports, using tools (i.e. skills assessments, audits, productivity reports, etc.) to measure technical skills and performance within your team.
- Identify and mitigate risks and escalate to leadership when appropriate.
- Identify, document, and improve processes in alignment with organizational best practice recommendations and in partnership with departmental leadership.
- Analyze the revenue cycle for each billing client to determine status, issues, and implement appropriate solutions when needed.
- Interface with customers and establish relationships that promote the timely and efficient resolution of revenue cycle issues.
- Ensure bills sent out are accurately processed following payer requirements and organizational policies.
- Prepare and present analysis of monthly team and member performance to OBS leadership identifying areas of focus and potential risk.
- Establish and maintain positive working relationships with patients, payers, department team members, OBS clients, OCHIN Members, vendors, and other stakeholders.
- Maintains the confidentiality of patient information, organizational data and information at all times in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Remain focused in the face of pressure and meet deliverables in accordance with expected timelines.
- Complete projects and tasks independently and with limited direct supervision.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in a Business, Healthcare or related field or a combination of college 1-2 years of relevant experience
- Minimum of four (4) years of department supervisory or leadership roles
- Minimum of five (5) to seven (7) years of progressive growth in the Medical Billing field with a working knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, MVA, Workers Comp and private insurance billing and reimbursement processes, and legal requirements of State, Federal and County policies, procedures and regulations and the release of confidential patient information, including HIPAA.
- Strong communication skills, including written and verbal communication to multiple stakeholders while listening and understanding multiple perspectives.
- Knowledge of and experience with Epic practice management system preferred.
- Previous FQHC/RHC experience is preferred.
- Coding experience or CPC - Certified Professional Coder helpful.
- Experience with Acute Care EHR software, EPIC, is required, specific expertise in HB Resolute module.
- Experience with HB Claims, Prelude, Cadence and EpicCare modules preferred.
- For HB focused positions, Critical Access Hospital or Method 2 Billing experience highly desired.
