About the role
- Law Clerk (Hybrid) provides support to Trial Attorneys with the drafting, review and compiling of motions, discovery demands/responses, case pleadings and trial documents
- Prepare draft responses to discovery demands
- Conducts legal research necessary to defend and/or prosecute motions
- Prepares drafts of legal documents such as motions, including dispositive motions; motions to compel discovery; motions for contempt; motions to strike note of issue
- Prepare drafts of motions in limine; jury instructions and other necessary trial documents
- Assemble trial exhibits by collecting, organizing, and summarizing information, documents, and reports
- Maintain and update files and databases including law office calendar
- Communicate with claims examiners, opposing counsel, witnesses, and our insureds
- Assist Attorneys and other staff with day-to-day activities
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in law related field
- First or second year of law school, 3Ls will be considered
- Thorough understanding of legal terminology, court procedures, and research techniques
- Excellent research and analytical skills
- Exceptional writing skills demonstrated through a writing sample
- Proficient computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, internet searches, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
- Highly professional demeanor and ability to maintain confidentiality
- Effective time management, organizational, prioritization, attention to detail, and multitask skills
- Effective communication skills that allow for positive interactions with coworkers, clients, divisional partners and outside vendors
- Ability to work both independently and as an integral part of a team
- Strong and unwavering commitment to customer service and high-quality legal work.
