About the role
- Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
- Lead Estimating and Project Coordinating Teams: Oversee daily operations to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to high quality standards. Support sales and profitability by directing and supervising overall team activities.
- Commercial Excellence: Build strong relationships with customers and internal departments. Travel to sales meetings, customer offices, and jobsites as needed. Promote open communication, teamwork, and a productive work environment across the division.
- Team Development and Mentoring: Support teammate growth through training, mentoring, and performance evaluations. Provide recommendations for compensation adjustments.
- Policy and Risk Oversight: Develop and maintain policies and procedures that reinforce Quality and Safety standards. Partner with the Engineering Manager to manage commercial risk, litigation matters, and warranty programs.
- Budget and Staffing Management: Oversee staffing plans, supply and equipment budgets, and wage planning to ensure fairness and team motivation.
- Value Rack System Estimation: Lead the Estimating Team in delivering complete, accurate, and timely cost estimates and proposals. Collaborate with Sales and Engineering to develop safe, cost-effective solutions. Evaluate structural decisions, fabrication impacts, and total installed costs. Review unique scope quotes for business risk, product application, and optimal value.
- Recruitment and Hiring: Partner with HR to execute recruiting strategies, conduct interviews, and make informed hiring decisions that strengthen the team.
- Strategic Leadership: In collaboration with the Engineering Manager, drive training, mentoring, and performance management initiatives that enhance business acumen, problem-solving, value engineering, sales, and customer service capabilities.
- Benchmarking and Continuous Improvement: Engage with other divisions to benchmark best practices, improve operational performance, and enhance customer satisfaction.
Requirements
- Associate's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or Business or 3+ years of steel/product sales or coordination experience.
- Experience leading a team of multiple individuals.
- P.E. and/or S.E. Registration preferred.
- 2 years of steel racking industry experience preferred.
- 2 or more years of professional experience in engineering, sales, project management, or team leadership preferred.
