About the role
- Leadership role in promoting Nucor’s mission ensuring that safety is instilled as a value with a strong focus on quality and environmental stewardship.
- Member of the Nucor Steel leadership team responsible for successfully leading long term profitable contributions to Nucor.
- Responsible for the division’s environmental strategy with a focus on building relationships with operations/ maintenance/ administrative departments and continuous cost reduction.
- Support Nucor’s strategy in growing enterprise sustainability initiatives.
- Solid understanding of environmental compliance, permitting and serve as a liaison for State and Federal environmental agencies.
- Oversees periodic review and revision of environmental management systems, standards, and procedures.
- Operational oversight of pollution control equipment (i.e. scrubbers, baghouses, etc.), wastewater treatment plants, and water systems.
- Advises leadership team on Environmental objectives, targets, and metrics.
- Support Political and Community Outreach.
Requirements
- 3+ years of environmental compliance experience
- 3+ years of environmental leadership experience including experience managing teams
- Previous steelmaking or heavy industry environmental compliance experience including permitting (preferred)
- ISO 14001 or environmental management system experience (preferred)
- 4-year degree in engineering or related environmental, safety or health field (preferred)
- Registered environmental credentials and/or professional engineering license (preferred)
