About the role
- Offer direction, growth, and feedback opportunities to the design team
- Lead and oversee the activities of the Design Group
- Work closely with internal and external customers to maintain clear communication
- Collaborate with the design team to produce safe, thorough, accurate, and timely designs
- Mentor, coach, and lead team members
- Participate in recruitment, interviewing, and training of new team members
- Create and uphold current design policies, procedures, and practices
- Work with the Engineering Leadership Team to plan strategically for future needs
- Ensure that the correct versions of design programs are consistently in use
- Coordinate root cause analysis and action plans for issues
- Occasionally complete designs or conduct design checks as needed
- Step in to support the Design Supervisor function as necessary
Requirements
- A minimum of two (2) years of metal building experience or equivalent structural engineering experience
- Willingness to travel to project meetings with customers
