About the role
- Field-based role providing in-person (or virtual) education to defined accounts on access and reimbursement topics for aligned Novartis products
- Focus on complex accounts (centralized/decentralized systems of care, integrated delivery networks, academic medical institutions, large specialty practices, alternate sites of care)
- Serve as patient access and reimbursement lead in business-to-business conversations with account executives
- Manage pull-through of access and reimbursement strategy and downstream operations within aligned accounts
- Communicate requirements and address barriers related to payer policy coverage, acquisition pathways, billing and coding, claims processing, reimbursement, and integration of manufacturer support programs
- Coordinate and communicate cross-functionally within Novartis (Patient Support Center, Sales, Marketing, Market Access, Public Affairs, State & Government Affairs, Trade, Specialty Pharmacy Account Management, third-party affiliates)
- Assess access situations, develop Plan of Action (POA), and educate HCPs on acquisition pathways including buy-and-bill, white bagging, clear bagging, brown bagging, and alternate sites of care
- Interface with Patient Support Center and Access & Reimbursement Managers for case management, issue resolution, and office staff education
- Maintain expertise in regional and local access landscape and proactively communicate policy changes or issues
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree required; advanced degree preferred
- 5+ Years of experience in pharmaceuticals/biotech focused in Patient Services, Market Access, Sales, and/or account management (minimum 2 years in Patient Services practice support for specialty product(s))
- Experience working with highly complex practices and/or health systems to establish access and acquisition pathways
- Strategic account management experience and proactive approach to anticipate access hurdles
- Deep expertise integrating manufacturer-sponsored patient support programs
- Experience with specialty products acquired through Specialty Pharmacy networks
- Knowledge of reimbursement pathways (specialty pharmacy, buy-and-bill, retail)
- Strong understanding of Commercial payers, Medicare plans and state Medicaid in geographic region
- Must live within assigned territory and ability to travel at least 50% of the time
- Fully valid and unrestricted driver’s license; driving is an essential function
- Ability to analyze problems, offer solutions, and manage multiple projects
- Handle Patient Identifiable Information (PII) appropriately and ensure HIPAA compliance
- Responsible for identifying and reporting adverse events as per processes
