About the role
- Provide planning, development of implementation and installation plans for IBM mainframe projects, including timelines and milestones
- Use SMP/e and IBM system utilities to create, populate, update and configure required datasets and parameter libraries for installations/upgrades
- Create and deliver detailed installation/upgrade documentation using government specified processes and formats
- Use IBM SMP/e to receive and apply z/OS and related software, interpret SMP/e output messages, and manage software installation packages
- Create, define and manage system and user catalogs using catalog management utilities
- Diagnose and resolve IBM z/OS system abends and abnormal operating environment problems using system logs, traces, dumps, and job output
- Create, populate, secure and troubleshoot IBM z/OS USS file systems and mount points; manage the USS environment
- Create/update and debug z/OS parameters (PARMLIB) using government processes and procedures
- Plan, create and update documentation for z/OS software/hardware installation/upgrades
- Analyze and debug batch processing issues using z/OS job processing; understand dispatching priorities and security integration
- Use z/OS communications products including VTAM, TCP/IP, and FTP
- Create, update, and debug JES2 parameters and statements
- Use storage management tools and techniques (DFHSM, ADRDSSU, SMS, virtual tape systems) for installation, upgrade and debugging
Requirements
- Active Secret Clearance required
- IAT Level 1 certificate required
- Must possess one of the following certifications: A+, CE, CCNA Security, Network+ CE, SSCP
- Knowledge and experience with IBM System Modification Program/extended (SMP/e)
- Experience with IBM system utilities (IEBGENER, IEBCOPY, IDCAMS)
- Ability to create, populate, update and configure datasets and parameter libraries
- Experience creating and delivering installation/upgrade documentation per government standards
- Ability to diagnose and resolve z/OS system abends using system logs, traces, and dumps
- Experience managing IBM z/OS USS (UNIX Systems Services) file systems and mount points
- Experience creating/updating and debugging z/OS PARMLIB parameters
- Knowledge of z/OS job processing, dispatching priorities, and mainframe security products
- Experience with z/OS communications products: VTAM, TCP/IP, FTP
- Experience creating/updating and debugging JES2 parameters and statements
- Familiarity with storage management tools: DFHSM, ADRDSSU, SMS, and virtual tape systems
