About the role

  • Work remotely for a US client supporting mainframe z/OS systems
  • Install, upgrade, maintain and customize z/OS, RACF, JES2, VTAM, TCP/IP, HCD, WLM
  • Install, upgrade, maintain and customize z/OS-related IBM and OEM products
  • Perform SMP/E tasks
  • Work with multi-CPU & Sysplex environment
  • Apply planned maintenances and monitor product PTFs to ensure products are up to date
  • Work with REXX scripts, Assembler, JCL and Top Secret/ACF2/RACF PTF implementations
  • Proactively monitor z/OS and related software, implement automation to prevent issues and maximize performance
  • Maintain and test mainframe DR solution; produce technical recommendations and reports (e.g., SCRT)

Requirements

  • Extensive SMP/E knowledge
  • Knowledge on REXX, assembler, JCL
  • Strong knowledge of WLM, RMF, CA Products, HCD
  • Experienced at troubleshooting performance issues in a z/OS environment
  • Working experience in a multi-CPU & Sysplex environment
  • VTAM/TCPIP Network administration
  • Working knowledge of other sub systems like DB2, ADABAS, IMS, CICS
  • Knowledge of working in Multi-Processor / Multi-LPAR environment and SYSPLEX
  • Knowledge of Mainframe Disks, replication and tools such as CSM
  • Storage administration such as initializing disks, re-organizing files and updating SMS definitions would be advantageous
