About the role
- Responsible for the daily maintenance operations for a fleet of on-station Global Hawk Aircraft.
- Plan, direct, and coordinate all maintenance activities on-site in Misawa, Japan; initially based in the U.S. during preparation phase and relocate to Misawa.
- Applies maintenance management knowledge, skills and techniques to effectively manage this high profile program.
- Oversees maintenance servicing and repair to ensure that aircraft are in good mechanical condition and safe for flight.
- Ensures trained professionals are on-site for launch, recovery and designated maintenance tasks; provide over-the-shoulder support to the JASDF when required.
- Attend daily meetings, release aircraft for flight, authorize CANN/MICAP actions, prioritize maintenance efforts, assist with scheduling and make mission essential determinations.
- Recommend procedure changes to improve maintainability of aircraft and timely inspections.
- Reviews status of projects and budgets; manages schedules and prepares status reports.
- Plan, manage, and execute GH maintenance activities in Japan; monitor adherence to the SOW, export/import requirements, security requirements, and quality processes and procedures.
- Manage diverse maintenance team of 10-15 maintenance personnel and supporting hiring activities; assume management duties in the Site Managers’ absence.
- Support negotiation of contract and contract changes as needed; develop customer relationships and ensure customer satisfaction and positive outcomes.
- Identify risks, develop mitigation plans and monitor progress of actions, utilizing metrics and taking corrective actions as needed.
- Identify, allocate and manage program resources, including workforce planning; manage Government/customer supplied property or information; manage on-site supplier representatives.
Requirements
- Must have a Bachelor's Degree with 5 years OR 9 years experience in lieu of degree
- Must have an active DoD Secret clearance or higher (with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation)
- Proven leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work between various departments, sectors, and suppliers
- Able to work independently or with minimal supervision
- Must be able to support the 24/7, fast paced, operations environment and adapt to changing priorities based on mission need
- Willingness to work after hours and weekends as required
- Previous Global Hawk Maintenance supervisor or manager (preferred)
- 5+ years of supervisory experience (preferred)
- Understanding of Global Hawk Aircraft Maintenance Processes and Procedures (preferred)
- Experience working with Japanese Ministry of Defense or in Japanese Defense Market (preferred)
- Familiarity with Japan culture, traditions, laws, etc (preferred)
- (FAA) Airframe and Power plant (A&P) and General Radiotelephone Operators License (GROL) desired (preferred)
- Certified UAV Technician / Aircraft Electronics Technician (preferred)
- Working knowledge of maintenance databases (preferred)
- Worked on previous Global Hawk maintenance programs (preferred)
- Air Force avionics maintenance experience (preferred)
- U.S. Citizenship required for all positions with a government clearance (stated in posting)
