About the role
- Lead data (internal research) driven costing strategies, analysis and solutions for complex capture and business shaping efforts.
- Develop estimating factors, regression analysis and estimating relationships from company data.
- Support Analysis-of-Alternatives (AoAs), Business Case Analyses (BCAs), affordability initiatives, should-cost exercises, engineering trade analyses and Design-to-Cost (DTC).
- Initiate and lead cost studies to generate metrics and analysis for business use.
- Organize and estimate new efforts generating ROMs, BPEs, or cost targets for large/complex efforts.
- Perform data collection, normalization, and analysis.
- Utilize proprietary and commercial models and software tools.
- Provide data visualization and relational analysis.
- Develop and manage relationships with technical (engineering) staff.
- Supporting the Sector historical cost and technical database.
- Identifying and evaluating risk and opportunities in cost estimates, terms and conditions, and all other business management related functions.
- Support and assist Independent Cost Evaluations (ICE) in support of the company-wide governance and risk management process.
Requirements
- Level 2: Bachelor’s degree with 2+ years of professional experience in Cost Modeling and Data Engineering – OR – Master’s degree with 1+ years of professional experience in Cost Modeling and Data Engineering.
- Level 3: Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of professional experience in Cost Modeling and Data Engineering – OR – Master’s degree with 3+ years of professional experience in Cost Modeling and Data Engineering.
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills;
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal;
- Requires an active U.S. Government DoD Top-Secret security clearance at time of application;
- US Citizenship is a prerequisite.
- Preferred: STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) degree preferred.
- Demonstrated experience in business management and labor and non-labor cost estimating.
- Experience working in space systems programs.
- Experience with parametric estimating techniques and principles.
- Experience using industry tools such as SEER, Crystal Ball, ACE-IT, USCM.
- Advanced Excel skills and experience with data visualization tools, e.g. Tableau and/or Power BI.
- Experience with languages and tools such as R, Python, ML models, etc.
- Relevant experience including exposures in the cost/business management/ops research world, with a strong knowledge of quantitative risk techniques, cost and risk modeling, and government contracts.
- Database design/SQL experience.
- Experience in the aerospace industry.
