About the role
- Designs and performs testing procedures to assess adherence with laws and regulations as well as bank compliance processes.
- Review and interpretation of current and proposed laws and regulations.
- Provides consultation and advice to partners regarding compliance and risk avoidance.
- Develops testing plans by reviewing laws, regulations, and internal policies/procedures.
- Verifies through execution of the Testing Program that activities meet federal, state and local requirements.
- Prepares reports detailing results of testing performed.
- Validates issue remediations presented for issue closures.
- Advises business partners on compliance matters as requested.
- Recommends procedural changes to minimize risk.
- Identifies situations posing significant risk and guides management in policy development.
- Interacts with business partners and internal auditors on regulatory topics.
- Serves on internal and external groups to provide/receive advice on industry trends.
- Participates in training and forums on industry trends and compliance requirements.
- Consults with partners regarding daily decisions that could pose risk and conflict with existing policy.
- Analyzes and reviews results of Compliance Risk Assessments in determining appropriate testing.
- Operates independently; has an in-depth knowledge of Compliance risk avoidance.
- May lead projects, mentor junior employees and review the work of others.
Requirements
- 5 or more years of compliance, risk management or equivalent related experience.
- In-depth knowledge of Consumer Deposit Compliance, Consumer Lending Compliance or Safety & Soundness regulations; AML/Sanctions regulations a plus.
- Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations usually acquired through formal education or work experience.
- Prior experience conducting internal audits, compliance reviews, or internal control reviews is preferred.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills along with analytical skills to consult with partners/clients, and analyze information and apply regulations.
