About the role

  • Produce site/civil construction documents by studying project concepts, architectural drawings, surveys, site conditions, and site planning requirements
  • Prepare engineering documents
  • Develop construction plans, specifications, and schedules including layout, grading, drainage, erosion control, and utility plans
  • Responsible for meeting deadlines, coordinating budgets, managing scope, and developing client relationships
  • Manage permit submittal processes and coordination with review authorities
  • Perform technical design in water, sewer, site planning, grading plans, drainage plans and calculations, erosion and sediment control plans
  • Review the scope of services and desired deliverables and develop task lists and schedules
  • Work with the client to obtain payment for work requests outside contracted scope
  • Manage schedule and flow of information among the design team and subconsultants
  • Review information received from subconsultants for completeness and accuracy and check calculations where possible
  • Perform technical oversight for completion of design plans and project specifications for civil projects (commercial, industrial, residential, institutional and/or Federal)
  • Provide scheduling, budgeting, design scope, quality control and supervision of Project Engineers, Design Engineers and Engineering Technicians
  • Ensure timely delivery of high-quality engineering services
  • Participate in process improvements, quality reviews, and peer consultation
  • Consult with and assist coworker staff as needed
  • Interface both in person and remotely (videoconferencing, phone, etc.)
  • Review invoices and send to Accounting

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering
  • 8+ years of civil engineering experience
  • Professional Engineer Licensure; ability to become licensed in additional states as needed
  • Proficient with AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Proficient with storm drainage design software (Hydrology Studio, Storm CAD, HEC-RAS, etc.)
  • Demonstrated ability to work accurately, follow procedures and schedules, and prioritize multiple tasks in a complex matrix environment
  • Ability and desire to develop business by participating in proposals
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of time
  • Willing to work overtime as circumstances warrant
  • Able to work effectively in an office environment and safely in the field (walk-downs and inspections at construction projects)
  • Experience delivering engineering designs and analysis to federal government clients (preferred)
  • Experience with earned value reporting and baseline management (preferred)
  • Experience with BIM/REVIT (preferred)
  • PMP certification (preferred)
  • OSHA HAZWOPER 40hr Certifications (preferred)
  • First Aid, Fire Safety, CPR, etc. certifications (preferred)
  • USACE CQM Certification (preferred)
  • Familiar with SpecsIntact and Master Specs (preferred)
  • Active Secret Clearance or ability to obtain (preferred)
  • Proof of citizenship will be required as a condition of employment
