About the role
- Manage and coordinate all activities during the delivery, assembly and commissioning phases of the wind turbine, from project start to final certification by the client.
- Coordinate with the contractor the mobilization of all heavy equipment on site, including cranes, assembly equipment (mechanical and electrical) and transportation equipment.
- Organize and maintain all project quality control, transportation and engineering documentation.
- Prepare daily and weekly progress reports for senior management.
- Ensure that all parts are delivered to site complete and on time to meet the construction schedule.
- Interact with clients during wind farm construction.
- Monitor the construction schedule to ensure compliance with all contractual obligations.
- Participate in daily project preparation meetings with all contractors.
- Track, coordinate and approve hours, rotations and leave requests for all Nordex employees or directly hired subcontractors.
- Process all purchase orders for materials or services required on site.
- Track all additional costs incurred on site.
- Monitor the construction process to ensure compliance with Nordex-approved processes and procedures.
- Coordinate with the project manager and implement solutions to issues encountered during turbine assembly and commissioning on site.
- Monitor and control the site budget and its variations.
- Manage contractors and subcontractors.
- Manage multiple activities simultaneously; organize and prioritize work; meet deadlines and prepare reports.
Requirements
- College diploma in mechanical engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience accepted; on-site wind turbine assembly experience is an asset.
- PMP certification or the ability to obtain one within the first year of employment is an asset.
- Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience in mechanical/construction; experience in mechanical construction of wind farms is an asset.
- Experience in quality management and quality control processes; wind turbine assembly experience is an asset.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office is required.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally to sites and for business as required (up to 100% travel) and ability to obtain a passport.
- Ability to work in Canada as a legal resident without company sponsorship and ability to obtain a U.S. passport.
- Ability to lift and handle up to 22.7 kg (50 lb), climb vertical ladders and work at heights above 91.4 m (300 ft).
- Maximum weight of 120 kg (265 lb) required to safely use climbing equipment and gear.
- Driving is an essential function of this position. The holder must possess a valid driver’s license and be insurable under our auto insurance policy.
- This position will be subject to periodic driving record checks to confirm continued insurability.
- The candidate must pass a pre-employment medical examination, administered by a medical examiner, to ensure ability to perform duties safely and meet the physical requirements of the role.
