About the role
- Prepare high-quality annual financial statements in accordance with NZ IFRS and NZ tax legislation for New Zealand clients
- Complete income tax, GST, FBT, and other returns as required
- Assist with management accounts and periodic reporting
- Prepare and review workpapers to ensure accuracy and completeness
- Reconcile bank accounts, debtors, creditors, GST, payroll, and other control accounts
- Liaise with onshore managers regarding job progress, queries, and additional information requirements
- Ensure client records are maintained to high standards
- Follow firm workflows, templates, and review procedures and proactively flag issues to managers
- Maintain confidentiality and data security standards at all times
- Stay updated with NZ tax law changes and accounting standards and contribute to continuous improvement of processes
- Meet performance KPIs including turnaround time, accuracy (minimal rework), compliance with firm processes, and positive feedback from onshore managers
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Minimum 2–3 years’ experience in public practice accounting
- Experience with NZ accounting standards and tax compliance (or willingness to learn)
- Strong knowledge of accounting software, preferably Xero and Xero Practice Manager (XPM)
- Good command of written and spoken English
- Philippine citizenship and currently living in the Philippines (required)
- Strong attention to detail and time management skills
- Proactive communication and ability to work independently and in a team
- Preferred: Experience in an offshoring or outsourcing role
- Preferred: Familiarity with MYOB, WorkflowMax, FYI Docs, or similar tools
- Preferred: Knowledge of NZ CA firm workflows and reporting cycles
