About the role
- New Classrooms is seeking a skilled writer to serve as our Grants Manager.
- Responsible for writing and submitting grant proposals, renewals, reports, and other content to support the Development team’s fundraising goals.
- Ensure the proper management of New Classrooms’ grants, including tracking key deadlines, facilitating strategic donor communications, and collaborating with Finance and Program staff as necessary.
- Support the Development team in cultivating new and existing donor relationships.
- Serve as project manager for key initiatives supporting all facets of the Development team’s efforts, including certain fundraising events.
Requirements
- 2+ years of professional experience in grants and proposal writing preferred.
- Candidates without a fundraising/development background but with extensive writing experience will be considered.
- BA degree preferred.
- Exceptional writing skills and high degree of intellectual curiosity.
- Significant experience with project management.
- Demonstrated passion for/commitment to education and fundraising.
- Experience with Salesforce or other donor management software preferred.
- Experience securing funding from national or local foundations is a plus.
- Experience with federal grants is a plus.
- Comfort working with numbers, and interpreting budgets and data analysis preferred.
- A strong work ethic, supported by commitment and excellent follow up and follow through.
- Willingness to “pitch in” and work as a team player on a spectrum of activities from supporting initiatives administratively to contributing to and executing strategy.
