About the role
- Design, implement, and validate motor control for tracker actuation, including torque/speed/position loops and fault handling.
- Develop, review, and iterate power electronics and lowpower designs for outdoor, ruggedized environments.
- Specify, integrate, and validate battery systems and BMS.
- Work with firmware team to embedded diagnostics and telemetry to enable remote monitoring, root-cause analysis, and predictive maintenance.
- Analyze fleet telemetry to quantify performance, identify anomalies, and drive corrective actions.
- Collaborate on tracker control algorithms and system safety interlocks.
- Define test plans; execute HIL/SIL, bench and field validation; perform FMEA; close the loop with firmware/hardware changes.
- Work across teams to ship robust designs and scalable updates.
- Author specifications, schematics, test reports, design reviews, and field investigation summaries.
Requirements
- BS/MS in Electrical Engineering or related field
- 5+ years of hands-on relevant experience
- Strong control theory, sensor fusion, and safety/fault management
- Data analysis experience with time-series telemetry (SQL or equivalent; Python/JavaScript; dashboards;)
- Outdoor/Industrial products: ingress protection, thermal design, lightning/ESD, surge protection, reliability testing
- Familiar with industrial comms and protocols (CAN, RS485/Modbus)
- Proven field support and root-cause analysis skills, including structured problem solving and clear documentation.
