About the role

  • As a member of the AdSmart Product Engineering Team, the Senior Engineer, Data Science, will be directly responsible for data science engineering as part of building out the necessary platform and products for NBCUniversal’s Universal Workstation.
  • NBCUniversal’s audience management products will enable NBCUniversal to better understand its brand’s audiences such as NBC News, Bravo, The Tonight Show, Saturday Night Live, and USA Network as well as audiences that cross brands.
  • The goal is to ensure we know who is watching what, where and when.
  • You’re a big thinker who can analyze and evangelize a long-range opportunity, architect a groundbreaking solution, and roll-up your sleeves to get code out the door when needed.
  • You are data driven and analytical. You understand the concept of a value proposition and evaluation criteria, and you know how to align them with low level milestones to get the work done.

  • You will be part of the AdSmart Data Technology team, participating in the data architecture that will drive both current and future data management initiatives within NBCUniversal’s Audience Studio group.
  • Responsibilities: Serve as a senior data scientist for AdSmart data products.
  • Participate in, and execute, a product roadmap with input from the delivery team, and stakeholders.
  • Develop and code the data science services that is core to AdSmart, under the leadership and direction of the VP Architecture
  • Analyze and report results and adjust the overall engineering strategy accordingly with engineering leadership

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science or related field
  • 5+ years of software development experience
  • Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms
  • Ability to effectively apply data science theory to advertising and audience data
  • Fluency in Python modeling
  • Understanding of basic statistical concepts
  • Experience in forecasting, optimization, deep learning, or machine learning techniques
  • Experience with both relational database design (SQL), non-relational (NoSQL), big data, real-time technologies
  • Native AWS experience
  • Experience with linear television or digital advertising technologies is highly preferred
  • Model building experience with GPUs
  • Experience with Bayesian Forecasting and Forecasting with Neural Networks
  • Understanding of Set Theory and Cardinality Estimation
  • Experience with Recurrent Neural Networks and Long Short-Term Memory Networks
  • Experience designing and developing optimization algorithms for scheduling, planning, and resource allocation
  • Experience applying operations research techniques such as linear programming, mixed integer programming, constraint programming, and metaheuristics
  • Experience with machine learning algorithms, including supervised, unsupervised and reinforcement learning a plus
  • Self-directed, multi-tasking, sharp analytical abilities, excellent communication skills, capable of working effectively in a dynamic environment
