About the role
- Navarro Research and Engineering is recruiting a Health and Safety Manager in Commerce City, CO.
- The Health and Safety Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring health and safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment. This role ensures compliance with all relevant local, state, and federal regulations and promotes a culture of safety throughout the organization. This position will support our environmental work at the Rocky Mountain Arsenal.
- Develop and implement health and safety policies and procedures.
- Conduct regular inspections and risk assessments to identify potential hazards.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA and other regulatory bodies.
- Lead training sessions for staff on safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Investigate incidents and accidents and recommend corrective actions.
- Maintain records of safety inspections, incidents, and training.
- Report writing skills.
- Administer medical surveillance program
- Conduct industrial hygiene monitoring program
- Collaborate with departments to ensure safety measures are integrated into daily operations.
- Stay up-to-updated on new legislation and industry best practices.
- Manage emergency response plans and first aid readiness.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health, Safety Management, Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field.
- 5 years’ experience as a Health and Safety Manager
- Professional certifications such as CSP or 10 years of experience as a Health and Safety manager may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree (Certified Safety Professional) or equivalent (e.g. PE or CHMM) are preferred.
- Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation and practices.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to analyze data and write detailed reports.
- Flexibility to work additional shifts to match work requirements
- US citizenship is required.
