About the role
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineers across multiple locations
- Review and disposition Supplier mechanical design submittals to validate designs based on technical requirements
- Interface with stakeholders to ensure project objectives are satisfied
- Support design, production, testing, and delivery activities for advanced naval propulsion training simulators (PPTT project)
- Apply GD&T and ASME Y14.5 principles to designs and drawings
- Support supplier design reviews and technical interchanges
- Provide recommendations for design for manufacturability and production processes
- Engage with machining and welding process considerations during design and production
Requirements
- A DOE L clearance or DOD equivalent is required to be considered for this role.
- US citizenship required due to government contract and/or clearance requirements.
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college or university
- Minimum of 3 years of work experience as a Mechanical Engineer
- Experience with SolidWorks or equivalent 3D modeling software
- Experience with Model Based Design
- Experience with Design for Manufacturability
- Experience implementing Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) into designs
- Understanding of ASME Y14.5 Geometric Tolerancing principles
- Ability to review, understand, and apply relevant engineering codes and standards (e.g. ASME, AWS)
- Experience supporting design reviews and technical interchanges with Suppliers
- Experience with machining and all forms of welding processes across design and production
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to think creatively and make recommendations to senior project personnel
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Products
