About the role
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineers across multiple locations
- Review and disposition supplier mechanical design submittals to validate designs based on technical requirements
- Interface with stakeholders to ensure project objectives are satisfied
- Apply ASME Y14.5 Geometric Tolerancing principles and GD&T into designs
- Support design reviews and technical interchanges with Suppliers
- Provide design-for-manufacturability input and recommendations to senior project personnel
- Ensure designs comply with relevant engineering codes and standards (e.g., ASME, AWS)
- Work on projects supporting the Naval Nuclear Laboratory at Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory (West Mifflin, PA)
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college or university
- 3+ years of relevant experience
- United States (U.S.) citizenship (required)
- Active or very recently active DOE “L” Clearance or DoD “Secret” Clearance
- Experience with SolidWorks or equivalent 3D modeling software
- Experience with Model Based Design
- Understand ASME Y14.5 Geometric Tolerancing principles
- Experience with Design for Manufacturability (desired)
- Experience implementing Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) into designs (desired)
- Ability to review, understand, and apply relevant engineering codes and standards (e.g. ASME, AWS)
- Experience supporting design reviews and technical interchanges with Suppliers
- Experience with machining and all forms of welding processes across design and production
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to think creatively and make recommendations to senior project personnel
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Products
- Ability to furnish proof of eligibility to work in the United States (upon hire)
