About the role
- The Annual Giving Director will report to the Chief Advancement Officer, and will oversee the design, execution, and growth of the NFF’s annual giving program (gifts up to $999) and mid-level giving program ($1,000–$24,999).
- This position is responsible for using data-driven strategies to expand donor acquisition, retention, and revenue growth across these critical programs.
- The Director will develop and execute multi-channel campaigns, build a robust mid-level giving pipeline, and work closely with the Advancement team to create seamless pathways for donors to advance into major and planned giving.

- Develop and implement an integrated annual giving strategy—including direct mail, email, digital, and other channels—that drives donor acquisition, retention, and upgrading.
- Lead the development of a mid-level giving program to deepen relationships with donors giving $1,000–$24,999, with the goal of building a strong pipeline for major giving.
- Use analytics to track donor behavior, segment audiences, and test strategies to improve performance across campaigns.
- Collaborate with the marketing/communications team to ensure compelling messaging and branding in annual giving campaigns.
- Partner with Major Gift Officers to identify and move qualified mid-level donors into major gift portfolios.
- Oversee stewardship strategies that enhance donor loyalty and engagement at the annual and mid-level tiers.
- Monitor and report on KPIs including donor retention, revenue growth, and ROI for campaigns.
- Manage vendor relationships (e.g., direct mail, digital fundraising) to ensure high-quality execution and results.
- Supervise and mentor any staff, officers, or interns assigned to support annual and mid-level giving efforts.
- Maintain timely and accurate donor records and campaign analytics within CRM and other systems.
- Travel occasionally (10–15%) to represent NFF and connect with donors, as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Minimum five years of nonprofit fundraising experience, with at least three years managing annual giving programs for a high-performing national-level organizations.
- Commitment to the mission of the NFF.
- Commitment to ethical fundraising principles.
- Demonstrated success in developing and implementing data-driven annual giving strategies and multi-channel campaigns.
- Experience building or managing mid-level donor programs.
- Familiarity with CRM systems, donor segmentation, and reporting.
- Special preference for candidates with experience in the conservation or environmental sector.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret data to inform strategy.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling donor messaging.
- Expertise in digital fundraising techniques, trends, and platforms.
- Strong relationship-building skills and ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
- Capacity to innovate, test, and optimize campaigns to maximize results.
