About the role
- Serve as a subject matter expert on U.S. GAAP, including preparation of technical accounting memos and position papers for complex transactions.
- Evaluate and implement new accounting standards and assess impacts on financial statements, processes, and controls.
- Advise on accounting implications for revenue recognition, stock-based compensation, leases, business combinations, equity transactions, and other non-routine items.
- Support quarterly and annual close processes by reviewing complex journal entries and disclosures.
- Partner with external auditors to support audits and reviews, including responding to technical accounting inquiries.
- Lead accounting due diligence for mergers, acquisitions, and other strategic transactions.
- Prepare and review purchase price accounting, including valuation inputs, opening balance sheets, goodwill, and intangible assets.
- Collaborate with Finance, Legal, HR, and Business leaders to assess accounting impacts of business initiatives.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (Master’s preferred).
- CPA required.
- 8–10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including public accounting (Big 4 or national firm strongly preferred) and industry experience in a technical accounting or reporting role.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting requirements (if applicable).
- Hands-on experience with M&A accounting and purchase accounting.
- Proven ability to write clear, well-supported technical accounting memos.
