Engineering Manager

• Drive delivery, process, and people management within an engineering squad
• Act as the connective tissue between Product and Engineering to ensure alignment, predictability, and quality
• Report to the Senior Engineering Manager
• Partner with the Product Manager, engineers, Growth team, and peer Engineering Managers
• Run squad ceremonies, sprint objectives, and roadmap tracking
• Keep engineers unblocked day to day
• Own squad architectural decisions, review RFCs and PRs, and monitor quality after rollout
• Run 1:1s and retrospectives
• Own career development and growth of direct reports
• Contribute as an IC through small to mid-sized PRs, code review, and incident response
• Own hiring for the squad, including hiring plans, recruiting funnel, and onboarding
• Serve as primary engineering liaison to Finance and Compliance
• Translate business requirements into technically sound solutions
• Partner with the Product Manager to align roadmap and delivery and define sprint readiness
• Build trusted relationships across the squad and engineering organization
• Establish requirements processes, surface assumptions early, and reduce mid-build surprises
• Deliver predictably with consistent cadence and defensible forecasts
• Clear obstacles and ship features when needed

Backend Engineer

• Build infrastructure to provision vIBANs on demand
• Design customer-facing APIs for collecting money through different payment strategies
• Handle collections across the African continent, including payment methods such as STK
• Own architecture and implementation decisions for the collections and treasury foundation
• Lead RFCs, diagrams, API specifications, and system specifications
• Partner with PMs and stakeholders to translate business intent into technical requirements
• Design and build customer-facing and internal APIs
• Build reliable infrastructure for vIBAN provisioning and collections orchestration
• Drive API standards, testing strategy, code review quality, and maintainability
• Break down complex work, sequence milestones, and manage delivery end to end
• Make pragmatic trade-offs while protecting correctness in financial systems
• Collaborate with engineers, follow chapter standards, conduct design reviews, and align stakeholders
• Deliver a reliable, observable, maintainable collections and treasury foundation
• Stabilise customer-facing APIs and orchestration paths with clear standards and strong developer experience

Senior Backend Engineer

Compliance

• Lead complex investigations into suspicious activity and high-risk customers across products and jurisdictions
• Respond to regulatory exams, internal audits, and partner reviews with timely and accurate documentation
• Oversee and complete escalated SARs, supporting officers in regulatory report submission
• Manage LEA requests and court order responses in line with local laws and data policies
• Train and mentor the 2LOD team and new hires on escalation frameworks and investigative techniques
• Conduct detailed transaction analysis to support risk rule refinement and typology development
• Draft and maintain clear, auditable desk procedures for 1LOD and 2LOD teams
• Support ad hoc projects and initiatives at the request of the Head of Compliance and the MLRO
• Deliver training sessions to upskill the remote 2LOD team on escalation and investigation standards
• Respond to all regulatory and partner queries with zero errors and within required timelines
• Implement updated escalation/decision matrices with measurable improvements in investigation consistency
• Identify and document 3+ new suspicious activity typologies for internal use and partner reporting
