About the role

  • Build and own n8n’s marketing operations backbone—maturing Customer.io, standardizing tracking/attribution, and accelerating high-quality campaign execution that Marketing and RevOps can trust.
  • Customer.io ownership & lifecycle orchestration
  • Lead end-to-end ownership of Customer.io: audience architecture, templates, journeys, and experimentation.
  • Design and launch lifecycle programs (activation, nurture, product updates) with clear entry/exit rules and rate limits.
  • Improve deliverability and list health through segmentation, preference management, and hygiene routines.
  • Tracking, attribution & data governance
  • Define and enforce UTM, naming, and campaign ID standards that make performance measurable across tools.
  • Implement pragmatic multi-touch attribution with CRM/BI alignment and clear definitions for sourced vs influenced.
  • Partner with RevOps/Data to ensure accurate event mapping, field syncs, and SLAs for data quality.
  • Campaign build, QA & launch velocity
  • Translate briefs into segmented sends and journeys; build, test, and launch with speed and precision.
  • Run a rigorous pre-flight QA checklist (merge tags, fallbacks, links/UTMs, consent, quiet hours, seed tests).
  • Set and improve SLAs from intake to launch, reducing cycle time without sacrificing quality.
  • Reporting & insights for decision-making
  • Ship self-serve dashboards on campaign performance, deliverability health, and lifecycle conversion.
  • Establish weekly operating metrics and readouts that inform budget, targeting, and experiment priorities.
  • Diagnose anomalies and propose data-driven iterations to lift activation and engagement.
  • Process, enablement & documentation
  • Create playbooks, templates, and intake processes that scale execution across Marketing.
  • Host office hours and partner training so teammates can brief better and self-serve within guardrails.
  • Maintain clear documentation for journeys, schemas, and standards to ensure continuity.
  • MarTech stack & integrations
  • Audit the current stack and recommend integrations or automations that reduce manual work.
  • Collaborate with Engineering/Product for event instrumentation needed to power lifecycle triggers.
  • Evaluate build vs buy trade-offs and drive well-scoped improvements that deliver impact in 60–90 days.

Requirements

  • 📧 Hands-on email ops (Customer.io preferred): You’ve owned campaign builds, journeys, templates, and QA end-to-end.
  • 🧭 Tracking & attribution rigor: You enforce UTM/naming standards and can stand up practical multi-touch attribution with RevOps/CRM.
  • 📊 Data fluency: You’re comfortable with metrics, funnels, and lightweight analysis (spreadsheets/BI; basic SQL a plus) to inform decisions.
  • 🧩 Process mindset: You run structured intake, SLAs, and documentation; stakeholders trust your clarity and attention to detail.
  • 🛡️ Compliance awareness: You respect GDPR/consent, manage suppressions/frequency caps, and bake compliance into workflows.
  • ⚡ Bias to action: You pair strategic thinking with willingness to build, test, and iterate quickly.
  • 🔌 Integrations & RevOps tooling: You’ve connected marketing systems to CRM/warehouse and understand reverse ETL patterns.
  • 🧪 Experimentation chops: You design A/B tests and holdouts and read results beyond vanity metrics.
  • 🧱 PLG/dev audience context: You’ve supported open-source or developer-focused products with lifecycle programs.
  • 🧾 SQL & event modeling: You can express segment logic in pseudocode/SQL and reason about product-triggered messaging.
