Software Engineer

• Designs, codes, tests, documents, and maintains integrations and applications to meet our business needs based on the Company defined Software Development Life Cycle.
• Works closely with business area subject matter experts, internal technical teams, and vendors to design, develop and maintain complex Company applications in support of market needs and internal corporate requirements.
• Uses toolsets that adhere to the frameworks of the technical stack used across the Application Services division and ensures that products and solutions comply with the organization’s architectural standards.

Workday Integration Developer

Electrical Engineer

• Communicate, plan and work with transmission and generation companies to maintain telemetry for new, retired, or updated equipment. Manage incoming and outgoing requests for improvement, additions, or corrections.
• Maintain ICCP tags/Object IDs, data parameters, and mapping to the relevant SCADA, Network Application, or AGC models.
• Manage ICCP permissions/access for transmission and generation companies to telemetry as needed for new equipment, retired equipment, or other changes.
• Work with external companies to test data points. Use a staging system to thoroughly verify the accuracy, quality, and reliability of the data before progressing to production environments.
• Engage in the study and analysis of where additional telemetry is needed to improve the observability in and near territory. Formulate findings into requests by order of operational value and individual transmission zone concerns.
• Using available trending and historian tools to investigate suspicious or inaccurate incoming data. Propose and implement methods or processes to drive higher quality control and increase preventative or predictive maintenance.
• Monitor control room and EMS user customer requests, concerns, and questions. Follow up with appropriate investigation and resolution.
• Work with other staff doing modeling to coordinate and help ensure that model changes and additions are correctly and appropriately filled out with measured data/SCADA data.
• Update, check and correct equipment thermal ratings.
• Help create and maintain custom graphical displays (PI and EMS displays) both for in-team use and customer use.
• Maintain, investigate, and grow the nascent synchro phasor data front end and utilities.
• Set up new data links to new grid assets, in particular with industry-specific data protocols such as DNP3, and security standards such as SSL/TLS.

Electrical Engineer – ICCP, Energy Management Systems Analyst II/III

• EMS Application Developer develops design and performs software development for suite of Electric Power Grid Applications
• Adhere to software development life cycle (SDLC) processes that includes performing testing and validation of Grid Applications and User Interface changes to deliver quality software to customers
• Report to the Supervisor/Manager of Grid & Market Solutions (GMS) Technology Development – Grid team
• Good Knowledge on core electric power systems operations and control functions
• Develops design, performs software development and testing for suite of grid applications and its interfaces in windows and Linux environments
• Designs and develops integration and data flows between EMS applications and downstream systems
• Provide timely software solutions to address grid applications critical production issues on 24x7 basis as level 2 support team

GMS Application Developer – EMS

Systems Engineer

• Provides technical support and performs system administration and maintenance activities to support the Energy Management System (EMS) and its ancillary systems and applications.
• Participates in planning and evaluating the impact of system modifications and maintenance activities to Company’s grid operations.
• Maximizes EMS uptime and mitigates system failures.
• Analyzes user requirements, procedures, and problems to automate or improve EMS.
• Primarily responsible for support, system administration, and maintenance of the EMS upgrade systems through the various testing cycles.
• Responsible for the integration of various EMS applications, monitoring, and regular maintenance.
• Performs various kinds of structured/unstructured testing and logs defects in the defect tracking tool.
• Works closely with the business lead, project manager and technical lead by providing timely updates and feedback.
• Works closely with the EMS vendor and Company’s GMS development teams to reproduce defects and test the fixes.
• Works closely with the GMS Applications Engineering teams to get the defect fixes, releases installed across various testing environments.

GMS Systems Analyst – EMS

Engineer

• Analyzes transmission network data including Transmission and Generation element parameters.
• Works closely with Company System Operations, System Operations Support, Market Operating Services Support, Client Services, System Planning and Metering.
• Works with EMS and Transmission Planning power flow, Locational Marginal Pricing (LMP), and other analysis software to provide accurate power system models and associated cases.
• Supports detailed model changes delivered by Network Operations Model Change Requests (NOMCRs) to maintain an accurate Network Operations Model, and other models contained within the Company modeling system.
• Coordinates and works with the NDSWG (Network Data Support Working Group) members on data exchange and transmission network model maintenance via the NOMCR process.
• Creates and utilizes data mining mechanisms and techniques for Protocol and Guide compliance driven reports and to validate the accuracy of the model.
• Reviews, drafts, and implement improvements to the modeling process and implement new technologies to the model.
• Provides training and evaluation of members of the Engineering Development Program (EDP).
• Manage updates and upgrades of the SGEM application to specify and implement desired new functionality.
• Reviews Contingencies, Special Protection Systems, Remedial Action Plans, Mitigation Action Plans, Outages, and other issues that possibly affect models.
• Reviews, drafts, and presents changes to the Protocols, Guides, procedures, training material for Engineer Development Program (EDP) and Market Participants (MPs), and other supporting Company documents associated with modeling.
• Help in developing tools or queries required to maintain data integrity.

Power Systems Modeling Engineer

Security Analyst

• Assist in the development, coordination, monitoring, and communication of CIP standards
• Work with stakeholders to ensure resolution of identified risks and remedial actions

NERC CIP Security Analyst

• Provides engineering support to implement improved inverter-based resources (IBRs) capabilities and modeling for IBRs.
• Reviews submissions of technical data related to maximization of voltage ride-through (VRT) and frequency ride-through (FRT) to ensure compliance with company requirements.
• Performs reliability power system studies, including steady-state and dynamic stability studies, to assess the impact of inverter based-resource VRT and FRT performance on the company system.
• Works with market participants to understand requirements, facilitate submissions, and implementation of modifications or exemptions.
• Coordinates with internal teams to ensure all requirements related to VRT and FRT are being met.
• Serves as subject matter expert on topics related to VRT and FRT performance for inverter-based resources.
• Supports development of processes and procedures related to VRT and FRT maximization and may support development and implementation of future Revision Requests in this area.

• Works under the direction of more senior engineering staff.

• Reviews generator and transmission equipment data submitted by resource entities and works with resource entities to correct invalid model data.
• Manages transmission system model software infrastructure and develops tools to assist in managing transmission models which includes database infrastructure, model data exchange interfaces, and data export formats
• Develops and maintains modeling software tools in C# and Java, to validate transmission network data submissions using electrical engineering principles by doing data comparison and validity checks
• Develops rules to validate data submissions in operations and planning models using SQL
• Manage projects to upgrade the NMMS and MOD applications to implement desired new functionality, reviews system patches, and helps administer servers.
• Provides training and mentoring of members of the Engineering Development Program (EDP)
